I recently read in USA today that a lot of people are opting for early retirement. Those people are probably unemployed and looking for a job. If you are 62 years old or older, finding a decent job in these rough economic times can be very difficult. Once your unemployment compensation runs out, your other choice is early retirement.

At least with early retirement you have an income coming in. Although it may not be enough, every little bit helps and you can continue your search for another job. Your Social Security income might allow you to accept a lower paying part time job.
